I represent Opera at the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Application Working Group (WebApps), which are working towards standardizing mainly APIs and Widgets. For WebApps, I’m the architect and co-editor of the Widgets 1.0 Family of Specifications. My main interests are the Web, mobility, and anything widgety.

When I’m not nerding out…
I particularly like to walk… for extended distances. Both in 2005 and 2006, I walked all around New Zealand. In October 2006, I walked around Spain for a week. You can see the photos of my Spain trip on flickr. I also like cycling, particularly mountain biking. I even did a couple of marathons:
- 2006 Kooralbyn to Kooralbyn (65Km), (race altitudes map)
- 2006 Coffs Harbour (50Km)
In 2008, I did a four-day ride in the south of China with my dad. We cycled from Guilin to Yanshuo (270Km). See Yangshuo – Rice Terraces.
Think you might know me from somewhere?
I was born in Argentina, but grew up in Canada (hence my funny accent). My family moved to Brisbane, Australia in 1991, which I have called home ever since.
In my first year in Australia, I attended Ironside Primary State School for about 3 months before going to Indooroopilly state high school, 1992-1996. I then went on to do one year of Information Management in 1997 at the University of Queensland.
In 1998, I then started my degree in Communication Design (multimedia) at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
In 2002-2003, I spent seven months doing my honours thesis at CWI, Amsterdam, with the Semantic Media Interfaces Group (INS2). I then returned to Brisbane, where I worked for the QUT’s Computing Services as a web developer (mostly HTML/ColdFusion/Oracle) and doing a few other interaction design projects.
In 2006, I started a PhD with the Faculty of Creative Industries (and partly funded by the Australasian CRC for Interaction Design (ACID)). In may 2006, I joined the W3C’s Web Applications Formats Working Group. As part of the group I edited the Widgets 1.0 Family of Specifications.
In March 2007, I joined the re-chartered HTML Working Group. In late April 2007, I left the HTML working group because of the volume of email being sent to the mailing list.
In July 2008, I attended the Oxford Internet Institute’s Summer Doctoral program. Although I didn’t learn much at the summer program, I did meet Bárbara; so it was totally worth while. In September 2008, I moved to Leça da Palmeira, Portugal, to be with her.
In February 2009, Barbara and I got engaged (yippy!) and we moved to Oslo, Norway, where I took a position as a Platform Architect for Opera Software. The role mainly involves making sure that the W3C’s effort to standaridize widgets stays on track and becomes a kick-ass technology. A better job, there could not be!
